Last week, we announced the winners of the 4th Annual OU Creaties. These awards celebrate the best new websites built by OU Create users.

We had over a hundred nominees for the Creaties this year, spanning a fantastic variety of experiences and modalities. The winner for best Group Project was the team responsible for the World Literature Today Organization’s group of websites.

In addition to the flagship World Literature Today site, OU Create hosts websites for Latin American Literature Today and the Neustadt Prize. Jen Blair revamped these sites this year and also worked with OU undergrad Jack Broach to build a new site for Chinese Literature Today.

The World Literature Today sites provide an entry point into contemporary literature.

The mission of World Literature Today, the University of Oklahoma’s bimonthly magazine of international literature and culture, is to serve the international, state, and university communities by achieving excellence as a literary publication, a sponsor of literary prizes, and a cultural center for students. Now in its tenth decade of continuous publication, WLT has been recognized by the Nobel Prize committee as one of the “best edited and most informative literary publications” in the world, and was recently called “an excellent source of writings from around the globe by authors who write as if their lives depend on it” (Utne Reader, January 2005). WLT has received 23 national publishing awards in the past 17 years, including the Oklahoma Governor’s Arts Award in 2016.

This collection of sites also shows the versatility of what you can build in OU Create. Create and the Domain of One’s Own initiatives at other schools provide a platform for student portfolios, faculty websites, course blogs, digital humanities projects, open publications, podcasting, and coding. We can’t wait to see what to see what new types of projects users create in the coming year.
